Untitled #6 is a part of an ongoing experiment in combining the impersonal useability of a commercial boutique with the warm personability of a household. Within a house, the rack provides an exceptional space to the way the house is experienced, it is a specific moment where strangers, friends, and neighbors all inact a similar ritual of commercialism and exchange, albeit without money, and in doing so create a bond of reciprocity. This bond can also be a way of rememberance as was the case with this installation since many of the clothes that were used were found in the closets and crawl spaces of the house that were left from the previous owner Lorraine who had passed away. |
